What this Bitcoin calculator does

The page combines three of the most common Bitcoin calculations into a single interface — all locked to BTC so you don't have to keep selecting a coin.

  • Convert — turn any BTC amount into USD, EUR, GBP, INR, PKR, or AED using live spot prices and current fiat exchange rates.
  • Profit / Loss— enter your buy price, sell price, BTC amount, and exchange fees to get exact net P&L and ROI.
  • DCA — backtest a dollar-cost-averaging strategy across the last 1 year of BTC price action. See your blended cost basis and current value.

For multi-coin tools, see our crypto profit calculator or full DCA calculator. For multi-currency conversion of any coin, use the converter.

Bitcoin in context

Bitcoin is the original cryptocurrency, launched in January 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. It has a fixed supply cap of 21 million coins, with the last fraction projected to be mined around the year 2140. The scarcity and the decentralised proof-of-work consensus model are what distinguish BTC from both fiat currencies and most other cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin halvings — the periodic 50% reduction in new BTC issuance — have historically marked transitions in the price cycle. The 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024 halvings each preceded multi-year bull runs of varying magnitude. The next halving is projected for 2028.

Frequently asked questions

  • Live USD price comes from CoinGecko's public API and refreshes every 60 seconds. The 'last updated' timestamp on the page reflects the actual fetch time — so you're never seeing stale data by more than a minute.
  • Use the Convert tab at the top of this page — it shows the current 1 BTC value in USD and 45+ other fiat currencies. The conversion table below also lists popular amounts (0.01, 0.1, 1, 10, 100 BTC) for quick reference.
  • Use the Profit/Loss tab for a single buy/sell scenario. For multiple buys at different prices, use the DCA tab — it simulates recurring purchases and reports your weighted-average cost basis, which is what you need for accurate P&L on a multi-buy position.
  • Yes. The Profit tab has a fee-percent input that gets applied to both the buy and sell legs. Default is 0.1% which matches Binance's standard spot fee — adjust upward if you trade on Coinbase Advanced (0.4–0.6%) or downward if you have a fee-rebate token.
  • None — they refer to the same asset. 'Bitcoin' is the name of the protocol and the coin; 'BTC' is the ticker symbol used on exchanges. You'll see both used interchangeably across this site.
  • This site doesn't give investment advice — only the math to make your own decisions. What we can say: Bitcoin's volatility is roughly 4× higher than the S&P 500, but its long-run returns since 2013 have also been an order of magnitude higher. Treat both numbers seriously.
  • Mining profitability depends on hash rate, electricity cost, and network difficulty — variables this calculator doesn't model. For mining-specific math, use a dedicated mining-profit calculator that takes ASIC specs and your power cost per kWh.
